How to update HTC Legend


The HTC Legend was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona by HTC in February 2010 and went for retail sale from March 2010. The Legend smart phone is the successor of the HTC Hero and comes with a slimmer and smaller form factor compared to its predecessor with minimal hardware enhancements. The device has a 3.2’’ active matrix OLED, also known as Amoled display.

Its body is manufactured from a single block of aluminum and ahs a removable battery case, which can be removed from a compartment present at the bottom of the phone. The device was originally shipped with Android 2.1, Éclair but was later updated to Android 2.2, FroYo in November 2010.

The device has a Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz processor, 384MB RAM and 512 MB of ROM. It also has a microSD memory slot which can support up to 32 GB. The smart phone has a 1300 mAh Internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The device also has a 5MP camera equipped with auto focus, geotagging and widescreen photo capture.

Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Download the latest version of the rooting program unzip it from the location here and extract the contents of the file to a location of your choice on the PC:

Step 2: Connect the tablet to the PC and make sure USB debugging is enabled. Use the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.

Step 3: Also enable "Unknown Sources" from this path: Menu>Settings>Applications

Step 4: Right click on the program file which was extracted in the previous step and select “Run As Administrator” to run the application.

Step 5: Now click the Root button and simply follow the on screen instruction and wait for it to finish.

Once done, the user can see super user permissions rights on the phone’s apps. That’s it reboot the device and you will have a rooted HTC Legend.
