How to root HTC Merge


Today we will discuss how to root the HTC Merge, which was the flagship phone of US Cellular and later came to Verizon Wireless in 2011. The device features 3.8 inch capacitive touch screen, an 800 MHZ processor and a 5MP camera with LED flash. The camera can also take 720p videos. Other important features include a full Qwerty keyboard and Android 2.2, Froyo.

Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.
           
Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Make sure all the HTC device drivers are installed on the PC. You can get all the drivers in the bundled package, which came with your device or you can visit http://www.htc.com/us/support/ sit to download them.

Step 2: Make sure to enable USB Debugging on the smart phone. The path to enable USB debugging is
Settings > Applications > Development > Turn USB Debugging ON.

Step 3: Now download the ACS HTC Super Tool from the location here.

Step 4: Now extract the contents of the Zip file to a location of your choice.

Step 5: Now right click the SuperTool.exe file within the extracted files and select the command to “run as administrator” to run the program.

Step 6: Wait for the app to complete its work. Once the app finishes its work, reboot the device.
Wait for the process to complete. Once the process is complete, you will have a rooted HTC Merge.
