How to root HTC Aria


Today we will discuss how to root HTC Aria also known as HTC Liberty, HTC Intruder and A6366 is a smart phone manufactured by HTC Corporation, which runs on the Android OS. The device also incorporates HTC Sense technology for HTC’s custom look. The Aria smart phone was launched in June 2010 and is currently available through AT&T in the US, eMobile in Japan and other carriers worldwide.

This smart phone includes different aspects of previously released handset models. For instance its physical design is similar to that of the HTC HD Mini, while its capacitive buttons and optical joystick are similar to that of the Droid Incredible, and its custom software is quite similar to the one introduced in the HTC Desire and HTC Legend.

Moreover, this is the second Android powered device launched by AT&T Wireless after Motorola Backflip. The HTC Aria smart phone has a Qualcomm 600MHz MSM 7227 processor and ships with a 1,300mAh lithium ion battery. The battery has a talk time of 6 hours and standby time of up to 15.5 days. Its screen measures 3.2’’ diagonally and has a 320x480-pixel HVGA resolution. The Aria smart phone's capacitive touch screen supports pinch-to-zoom multi touch gesture, which comes in handy if the user has any problem to read the text.

The handset was shipped with Android 2.1, but in February 2011, At&T Wireless released Android 2.2 update for the HTC Aria smart phone. Its other features include quad band roaming, speakerphone, smart dialing, speed dialing, voice commands, conference calling, and multimedia and text messaging. The Aria smart phone is a 3G device and also includes integrated Wi-Fi and Android's WebKit HTML Web browser.

Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Firstly download Unrevoked Rooting Application from here. Thus step is not required for Linux/Mac users.

Step 2: Now download Android USB drivers from the following location (goo.gl/PNFgY). After downloading extract the contents of the Zip folder to a location of your choice.

Step 3: After extracting the files, switch off the smart phone and then boot it in the Hboot menu by simultaneously holding power and volume down buttons. This will take you to the recovery mode.

Step 4: In the recovery options, please select “Hboot USB” by using the volume down key. Make sure to wait or the process to get completed. After the end of the process, connect the phone using the USB data cable to the computer and simply wait for the smart phone to show Hboot USB plug on the screen.

Step 5: After connecting the device, Open the Device Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in the Run window and pressing Enter.

Step 6: Now in the “Other devices” section, make sure that there is the “Android1.0” option is present. Now expand the “Other devices” segment by double clicking it. Now right click the “Android 1.0″ icon and pick the “Update Driver software” option. After clicking, a window appears, in this window click on the “Browse my computer for driver software” option, which is the second option.

Step 7: Now, Click on browse and select the folder in which the contents of the Zip files were extracted, click OK and then click Next. After that Windows will try to install the drivers, if you see any warnings, simply click on OK.

Step 8: After installation is complete, click on the “Close” option and make sure “Android Bootloader Interfaces” is listed in the Android Phone.

Step 9: Finally, connect the HTC Aria phone and run the software which was downloaded in the first step.

Step 10: The software will run and do the rooting. This process will take approximately 5 minutes.

Once finished, you will have a rooted HTC Aria with ClockworkMod Recovery mode.
