How to root Samsung Continuum

Samsung is the leading player in the global mobile market. In the smart phone sector the company is the number one player competing with iPhone, BlackBerry and other Android players in the market. Samsung also sells smart phones based on its proprietary OS named Bada.

The Samsung Continuum was launched in November 2010 and is part of the new Galaxy dual display smart phones of Samsung. Samsung Continuum has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED display for the general display. It also includes a small 1.8-inch 'Ticker Display' below it. The Ticker Display is devoted to show social network feeds, news and alerts.

This Ticker Display can be activated by squeezing the grip sensors at the sides of the device. The Ticker Display allows users to read news and social feeds even though the phone is in standby state. This feature helps in saving the phone’s battery. Samsung Continuum runs on Android 2.1 OS and uses the Microsoft’s Bing as the primary search provider. The device is powered with 1Ghz Hummingbird processor. It also includes a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash.

Today we will discuss how to root Continuum Android mobile. Before we start, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Download "z4root" available here
The file is also available in the Google Play store.

Step 2: Download and install the application on your mobile.

Step 3: After the installation is complete, Run the application for the first time.

Step 4: The application will display two choices: "Temporary root" and "Permanent root"

Step 5: Pick either of the two based on your requirements. Only thing to consider is that if you select the temporary one, the root will disappear after the device is rebooted.

Step 6: The app will take approximately three minutes to install. If it goes longer then about 3 min. You have to repeat the last two steps. If it is finished successfully, you will have a rooted device.

You can un-root the device whenever required. Just follow the instruction in the next post on un-rooting
