How to root Samsung Fascinate


Samsung is the leading player in the global mobile market. In the smart phone sector the company is the number one player competing with iPhone, BlackBerry and other Android players in the market. Samsung also sells smart phones based on its proprietary OS named Bada.

Today we will discuss how to root Samsung Fascinate. The Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate looks very similar to the Samsung Beam. It utilizes a large 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen, a 1GHz processor and runs on the Android 2.1 operating system. The camera is 5MP with option for 720p HD video recording at 30 frames per second. Additional features include Wi-Fi support, 3G, HD video playback, A-GPS, as well as playback for many other formats such as FLAC and MKV.

Before we start, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Download Samsung Kies and install it. Samsung Kies is a software application which is used to communicate between Samsung devices. The software can be downloaded from the Samsung Global Download Center or the individual phone support pages.

Step 2: Download the following files onto your PC. These files will be used in the rooting process
          Odin- 
          Update.zip
          • EB01 Froyo Rom

Step 3: Place the "Update.zip" file in the root directory of the smart phone’ sd card. The root directory means the main directory of your sd card.

Step 4: Open Odin software.

Step 5: place your phone in download mode using the following method.

          1. Shut down your phone
          2. Remove the battery
          3. Now while holding the "volume down button" plug your phone into your computer using the USB cable
          4. When you see the a large yellow triangle release the "volume down button"

Step 6: Now press the "PDA button" in the Odin software.

Step 7: Select the "EB01_DXC.tar" file which was downloaded in and saved to your computer in step 2.

Step 8: Press the "Start Button" in the Odin software. Wait for the device to shut down. The device shuts down once the process is complete.

Step 9: Unplug the USB cable when the phone powers down and replace the phone’s battery

Step 10: Press and hold the "volume up button" and "volume down button" simultaneously. Also hold the
 "power button".

Step 11: When the Samsung logo appears on the screen, let go the "power button", while continuing to hold the "volume buttons"

Step 12: When the "stock recovery menu" appears, let go the "volume buttons"

Step 13: Using the "volume buttons", highlight "apply sdcard:update.zip". Now select by pressing the "home button"

Step 14: Using the "volume buttons", highlight "Nandroid"

Step 15: Select using the "power button" and highlight "backup/restore" and select.

Step 16: once it is over, highlight "reboot system now" and select. The phone will reboot again and it will take up to 15 minutes to boot back up.

Once the mobile is booted, you will get a rooted Samsung Fascinate running Froyo ROM.
