How to root HTC Vivid


Today we will discuss how to root the HTC Vivid, which is also known as the HTC Raider 4G and HTC Holiday. The smart phone was launched in September 2011 and runs the Android 2.3 with HTC Sense 3.0. The device runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. An LTE enabled model of the smart phone was launched in the United States, Australia, Germany and Hong Kong. The phone was subsequently upgraded to Android 4.0.3 along with HTC Sense 3.6 in March 2012. The smart phone has a RAM of 1 GB and internal storage of 16 GB. The device also includes microSD 2.0, which can support up to 32 GB.

Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: First of all we need to download a few files to begin the rooting process. Firstly, download the    HTC USB drivers from here. Select the drivers of Vivid from the list.

Step 2:  Now download the Vivid-Root.zip file from the here.

Step 3: After downloading the files please extract the files to a location on the PC.

Step 4: Please make sure that “USB debugging” is enabled on the smart phone. Use the following path to see the settings: Settings > Applications > Development.

Step 5: Also enable “unknown sources” from this path: Menu>Settings>Applications

Step 6: Now connect the smart phone to the computer. Please select the “Charge only” option while connecting the device.

Step 7: After connecting the device, explore the extracted zip folder and double click the RUNME.bat file to start the rooting process.

Step 8: Simply follow the on screen commands to root the device.

Once finished, you will have a HTC Raider 4G. This is a temporary root and will not stick, if you reboot the phone. If you reboot the device root access will be disabled.
