How to root HTC Inspire


Today we will discuss how to root HTC Inspire 4G, which was earlier codenamed Stallion before its release at the CES in January 2011. The Inspire 4G is AT&T Wireless’ first smart phone branded as "4G". It is similar to the HTC Desire HD model sold in the European markets. The only difference between Desire HD and Inspire 4G is that the Inspire 4G smart phone supports AT&T's HSPA+ 4G network, which\le the other one doesn’t. The device is available in two colors, including Dark Brown and Red.

The smart phone features a Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. It has a 8 mega pixel camera with in-camera editing, dual LED flash and live picture effects. The camera can also be used as a 720p camcorder to capture HD videos and fast uploads. The device has a 4.3’’ (480×800) class WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen, which is covered by Gorilla Glass.

The Inspire 4G was originally shipped with Android 2.2.1 Froyo along with a custom HTC Sense 2.0 user interface. The OS was subsequently updated to Android 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1. The smart phone has a RAM of 768 MB and internal flash memory of 4 GB. It also has a single microSDHC slot, which can support up to 32 GB of data storage.

Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems.

Step 1: Download HTC drivers from here.

Step 2: Now enable "USB Debugging" using the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.

Step 3: Also enable "Unknown Sources" from this path: Menu>Settings>Applications

Step 4: Now download the One Click Permanent Root tool from the link here.

Step 5: Now install the HTC Drivers, which were downloaded in step 1 on to the PC so that the One Click Perm Root tool can detect the HTC Inspire 4G correctly.

Step 6: Now connect the smart phone to the computer via USB data cable.

Step 7: After the phone is detected by the system, extract the Zerg_Root_OneClick.zip file, which was earlier downloaded in step 4 to the C:\.

Step 8: Now double click the ZergRushTempRoot.bat file to run it.

Step 9: Let the application complete its process, it will take approximately 3 minutes to complete it.

Step 10: That’s it once the application’s process is over please reboot the device.

After reboot you will have a rooted HTC Inspire 4G smart phone.
