The
HTC Droid Eris measures 4.45’’ X 2.19’’X 0.51’’ thick and weighs approximately
4.23 ounces. The phone is slim enough to easily slip into the pants pocket. The
device looks similar to the HTC Hero but the company has added a proximity
sensor, which was missing in the previous models.
The
smart phone has a 3.2’’ HVGA capacitive touch screen, with a 320x480 pixel
resolution, which is really hard to ignore. Text on the screen is easy to
read and the colors of most of the images are rich and vibrant. The smart
phone is shipped with Android OS 1.5 only.
You can root the device to update it to OS 1.6 and 2.0.
The
Droid Eris mobile includes features such as voice dialing, Bluetooth, Verizon
visual voice mail, Wi-Fi, USB mass storage, PC syncing, and a voice recorder.
The device doesn’t allow the user to save apps to the microSD card. All the
apps must be stored in the phone's internal memory only. The Droid Eris smart
phone has 512MB of ROM and 288MB of RAM, but the user can store Music, Video
and photos on the microSD card. The device has a 5MP camera, which also
offers geotagging and video-recording capabilities. It runs on the Qualcomm 528MHz
MSM7600 processor similar to the previously released HTC Hero.
Before
we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the
below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the
device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please
proceed at your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a
backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other
media files in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Download the APK file from pasting this link (dl.dropbox.com/u/8699733/erisone010.apk)
in the address bar of the browser.
Step
2: After downloading on the mobile, run the app, read the disclaimer and
press the OK button.
Step
3: After pressing OK reboot the device. Once rebooted the smart phone will
have Amon’s recovery
Step
4: Now use the recovery screen to flash rootme.zip which is on the SDCard of
the phone.
Step
5: Enable "USB Debugging". Path for USB debugging is
Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.
Step
6: Also enable "Unknown Sources" from the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications
Step
7: After you have root, please uninstall the erisone010 app.
That’s
it after reboot you will have a rooted HTC Droid Eris.
