Today
we will discuss how to root the HTC Flyer, which was launched in May 2011. The
HTC Flyer, which is also known as the HTC EVO View 4G is a tablet manufactured
and marketed by HTC Corporation. The tablet has a single core 1.5 GHz CPU and
is shipped with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. The company has released Honeycomb
upgrade for the tablet in 2011.
The
tablet has a 7 inch TFT screen and includes features, such as the pen input,
touch input. The company also launched a Wi-Fi variant of the tablet in
subsequent months. Other key features include a 5 mega pixel color auto focus
CMOS camera; a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera for video chatting;
internal memory of 16GB/32GB along with microSD card slot for more space. The
device has a 4,000 mAh battery.
Before
we start, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below
mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device
is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at
your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup
of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files
in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1 Download the latest Fre3vo version from the location here and save it to the
PC.
Step
2: After downloading the above file, download and install the Android SDK to
the PC. We have earlier discussed about ADB in detail, please refer that post.
Step
3: Now exit the HTC Sync utility having anything to do with listening to USB
ports.

Now open ADB and type the following commands:
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777
/data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug
-start[exploit address] -end [exploit address]
5.
Use the following exploit addresses for respective HTC flyer Models:
HTC Flyer WiFi 16GB: exploit at address
38126600:a00
HTC Flyer 3G 32GB: exploit ad address
38125e00:1200
Once
done, you will have root rights on your HTC Flyer. Please note that this root
access will be limited and revoked on boot. In case you are looking for an
