Samsung
is the leading player in the global mobile market. The company has a long
lineup of smart phones, which range from the premium to the low priced. The Samsung
Vibrant is the T-Mobile USA version of Samsung Galaxy S. It has a 4’’ super amoled
screen and runs 1GHz Hummingbird processor. The device support 32GB of memory
and has a 5MP camera with LED flash, digital zoom and autofocus. The camera
also allows recording of HD videos.
Similar
to other Android devices, the device is shipped by OEM’s in locked version where
the buyer only gets “guest access”, which limits the user’s control over the
device. For example, the owner is powerless to remove pre installed apps.
Rooting gives super user access to the owner, allowing complete control of
the device by the user.
Before
we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the
below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the
device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please
proceed at your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a
backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other
media files in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Download Samsung Kies and install it. Samsung Kies is a software
application that is used to communicate between Samsung devices. The software
can be downloaded from the Samsung
Global Download Center or the individual phone support pages.
Step
2: Enable "USB Debugging". Path for USB debugging is Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.
Step
3: Also enable "Unknown Sources" from the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications
Step
4: Now download the zip file from here and rename
it to update.zip
Step
5: Now copy the update.zip file to the internal SD memory of the phone.
Step
6: Now switch off the phone.
Step
7: Now simultaneously hold volume up and volume down while switching on the
device. This action will take the device to the recovery menu. Please try
again if you are not successful to achieve recovery mode.
Step
8: When in the navigate using the volume up and down buttons and select
'Reinstall Packages' option and wait for the system to complete its actions.
That’s
it, once rooting is over, the device will automatically reboot itself. After
reboot, you will have a rooted Samsung Vibrant.
