Korean
electronics major Samsung is one of the leading player in the smart phone
market. In October 2010 the company launched the Samsung Transform, which is
also known as Samsung SPH-M920.
The smart
phone was originally launched with Android 2.1 (Eclair) but later Samsung
released updated devices with Android 2.2.2 in March 2011. It was perhaps the
first devices equipped with carrier Sprint's "Sprint ID" user
interface. The device can be considered as a mid-range smart phone and believed
successor to the previously launched Samsung Intercept. The device features a faster EVDO Rev. A for
fast data download and upload; a large 3.5" touch screen; a slide out
qwerty keyboard; and a VGA camera in the front for video calling.
Before
we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the
below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the
device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please
proceed at your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a
backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other
media files in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Download Samsung Kies and install it. Samsung Kies is a software
application that is used to communicate between Samsung devices. The software
can be downloaded from the Samsung
Global Download Center or the individual phone support pages.
Step
2: Make sure all the device drivers for Nexus S are installed on your
computer.
Step
3: Enable "USB Debugging". Path for USB debugging is Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.
Step 4:
Also enable "Unknown Sources" from the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications
Step
5: Download the z4root apk either from the Google Play store or from the link
here.
Step 6:
Now connect the mobile to the PC using USB data cable and copy the
z4root apk file to the phone.
Step 7: After saving the file to the phone
disconnect it from the PC.
Step 8: Using any file manager tool, select the APK file and install
the z4root app.
Step 9: After installing the app, run the application and hit
Temporary or Permanent root option based on your choice.
Step 10: Let the app complete its actions
Once the above process is complete the device will reboot itself.
After reboot you will have a rooted Samsung Transform.
