How to root HTC Droid Incredible

Today we will discuss how to root HTC Droid Incredible, which is also known as the ADR6300 and simply as the HTC Incredible. The DROID Incredible smart phone was launched in April 2010 and was initially available through Verizon Wireless only. The handset is similar to Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G handset. The Droid Incredible was later replaced by other models, including the HTC Incredible S and ThunderBolt. The Droid Incredible handset has since been discontinued by Verizon also. The DROID Incredible was originally shipped with Android 2.1 Éclair with HTC Sense modifications, which provide an overlay user interface for the Android OS. The smart phone includes a 8 MP camera along with dual LED flash and an optical mouse. The device also includes a camcorder with resolution of 1280x720. This can be further compressed to either H.263 or MP4 format. The device has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Adreno 200 GPU. It has 512 MB of DDR RAM, 1 GB ROM along with 8 GB of moviNAND storage. It has a microSD slot which can support up to 32 GB of external memory. Before we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at your own risk.             Make sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files in order to get data back in case of problems. Also make sure to uninstall HTC Sync and any other similar programs, which might converse with the phone over USB, since these may cause problems. This is especially compulsory for Windows users. Step 1: Connect the HTC Droid Incredible smart phone to the computer via the USB data cable. Step 2: Now drag the notification bar down on the HTC Droid Incredible and select the “Charge Only” option and also the “Remember This” options. Step 3: Download the unrevoked3 program from here and save it in your PC. Step 4: Extract the contents of the file to a location of choice on the PC. Step 5: After downloading the software, run the unrevoked3 program, which is usually called as the reflash or reflash.exe on the computer.  Step 6: Now wait for the tool to complete its work. The tool will run its process and also provide instructions in between, simply follow all those instructions. Step 7: Now copy the update.zip file from the list of extracted files to sdcard directory (root directory) of the phone. Step 8: Now remove the battery of the phone. Step 9: Now switch the phone into recovery mode. To achieve recovery mode, press “Volume Down” key on the phone and reinsert the battery. Now use the Volume keys to highlight the “RECOVERY” option in the menu.  After highlighting the recovery option, press the “Power button” to select it. This will take the smart phone into recovery mode. Step 10: In the recovery menu, please select the Apply sdcard:update.zip and also confirm that you want to flash the mobile’s update.
