The
HTC Wildfire S smart phone was launched in February 2011. HTC has released
both CDMA and GSM compatible models of HTC Wildfire S. The device includes a
600 MHz Qualcomm processor and is shipped with Android OS 2.3.5. The Wildfire
S smart phone has a TFT LCD capacitive touch screen and comes with a 5 MP camera.
The smart phone is considered to be an update of the previously released HTC
Wildfire with new features, including a better processor, support for
Bluetooth 3.0, and a screen having double the resolution. The device has the
latest version of Android Gingerbread and comes with an upgrade of the HTC's
Sense user interface.
Before
we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the
below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the
device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please
proceed at your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a
backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other
media files in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Firstly we should download the following files from the given links and
save these files to your computer:
Unlocked bootloader of HTC Wildfire S
Step
2: After saving the files extract the contents of the folders to a location.
Step
3: Use the USB data cable to connect the device to the PC and transfer the
file named PG76IMG.zip to root of the phone’s SD card.
Step
4: Now remove the Smart phone from the PC and disable the Fastboot on the phone
by using the Settings and then power button.
Step
5: Switch off the smart phone and reboot into Hboot mode by simultaneously
pressing the Volume Down and Power keys until the screen appears.
Step
6: Now wait for some seconds so that the phone can detect the recovery image
Step
7: Now press the start update command using the volume up key.
Step
8: Once the installation is over, switch off the phone
Step
9: Again uses the USB data cable to connect the device after it is completely
booted and delete the PG76IMG.zip file from the phone’s SD card and copy it
to root.zip file.
Step
10: Unplug the Mobile again and switch off the device.
Step
11: Reboot the device into the Hboot mode as done in Step 5.
Step
12: Now in the recovery menu please select the install zip file from the SDcard
and select choose zip from SDcard and select root.zip file.
Step
13: Now confirm rooting by selecting the option Yes.
Step
14: When rooting is finished, go back to the main menu and reboot the device.
That’s
it you should now see the super-user icon in your device’s app drawer. Your HTC
Wildfire S device is now rooted.
