Today
we will discuss how to root the HTC EVO Design 4G. The EVO Design 4G is an Android-based
smart phone, which was launched by Sprint in the US in October 2011. This is
the fourth version of the EVO line in Verizon’s lineup. The device’s notable
features include aluminum semi-monocoque form, a qHD display, multi-band
connectivity, and a relatively small size compared to other Android phones.
The
phone is shipped with Android 2.3.4, Gingerbread. HTC has announced a future
upgrade of the phone to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC has layered the stock
Android OS with HTC Sense version 3.0 to visually provide a different user
experience.
Before
we start, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the below
mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the device
is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please proceed at
your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a backup
of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other media files
in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Make sure all the HTC device drivers are installed on the PC. You can get
all the drivers in the bundled package, which came with your device or you
can visit this site to download them.
Step
2: Make sure to enable USB Debugging on the smart phone. The path to enable
USB debugging is
Settings
> Applications > Development > Turn USB Debugging ON.
Step
4: Now extract the contents of the Zip file to a location of your choice.
Step 5: Now right click the SuperTool.exe file within
the extracted files and select the command to “run as administrator” to run
the program.
Step 6:
Wait for the app to complete its work. Once the app finishes its work, reboot
the device.
After
reboot, you will have a rooted HTC EVO Design 4G.
