Samsung
is the leading player in the global mobile market. The company has a long
lineup of smart phones, which range from the premium to the low priced. The Samsung
Galaxy Precedent is a CDMA budget device primarily targeting the budget conscious
market.
Similar
to other Android devices, the device is shipped by OEM’s in locked version where
the buyer only gets “guest access”, which limits the user’s control over the
device. For example, the owner is powerless to remove pre installed apps.
Rooting gives super user access to the owner, allowing complete control of
the device by the user.
Today
we will discuss how to root Samsung Precedent. The device features a 3.2 inch
touch screen running Android 2.2. It includes 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity along
with 2MP camera. Other features include bluetooth, multitasking, instant messaging
which is GPS enabled. The device comes equipped with 5 home screens and supports
microSD card which is extendable up to 32GB. The company claims a battery
talk time of up to 6 hours and a stand by time of up to 9 days.
Before
we start rooting, DISCLAIMER: Rooting may void the device’s warranty and the
below mentioned method may be a bit risky and we are not responsible if the
device is damaged or you lose data, therefore it is advisable to please
proceed at your own risk.
Make
sure that the battery is fully charged, because if the battery drains totally
during the rooting process, bricking may happen. Also make sure to create a
backup of the device data such as SMS, internet settings, contacts and other
media files in order to get data back in case of problems.
Step
1: Download Samsung Kies and install it. Samsung Kies is a software
application that is used to communicate between Samsung devices. The software
can be downloaded from the Samsung
Global Download Center or the individual phone support pages.
Step
2: Enable "USB Debugging". Path for USB debugging is Menu>Settings>Applications>Development.
Step
3: Also enable "Unknown Sources" via the following path: Menu>Settings>Applications
Step
4: Download the OneClick root application from the following link. (goo.gl/Ywe0K)
Step
5: Now extract the contents to a new folder.
Step
6: After extraction, un mount the device’s SD card from the following path.
Menu
> Settings > SD card & Phone Storage, then tap Unmount SD Card
Step
7: Connect the smart phone to the computer by using the USB data cable.
Step
8: Open the new extracted folder and double-click the PrevailToExsistence.bat
file to start the program.
Step
9: Now follow the on screen instructions and wait for the rooting process to
finish.
Once
rooting is over, the device will automatically reboot itself. After reboot,
you will have a rooted device.
