Samsung Exhilarate, made from recycled materials

Samsung is planning to launch a new mobile called Exhilarate for the US customers, in the coming months. The Samsung Exhilarate is constructed from 80 percent recycled post-consumer materials and features eco modes and tools such as an Eco calendar and calculator. The Exhilarate also boasts a four-inch touch-screen Super AMOLED display, front and rear facing cameras, voice recognition and access to AT&T U-verse® Live TV. In addition, the Samsung Exhilarate was certified as Platinum by UL Environment – their highest level of sustainability certification. This is AT&T’s second device to receive this certification.

The good thing is that this high quality device is expected to be available for only $50 with a two-year agreement on AT&T, compared to $200 for the Galaxy mobiles. It is also the first AT&T 4G LTE smartphone to obtain UL Platinum certification.  The device features a 4" Super AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera with the ability to record 720p video, as well as the beloved LTE connectivity to AT&T's developing network. The only drawback is that, it will come loaded with Android 2.3.

AT&T also announced that it will offer two custom case options by Incipio along with the device. These ECO SILICRYLIC cases are made from a combination of biodegradable and recycled materials.  Composed of two parts, an inner silicone rubber made of recycled silicone regrind material, and an outer bio resin plastic shell, ECO SILICRYLIC complements the environmentally conscious features of the smartphone it protects.

Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of Devices at AT&T Mobility said: “AT&T is committed to developing and supporting products, like the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate, that enable consumers to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing features or the ability to enjoy a world-class smartphone experience. We’re working hard every day to empower consumer choice and provide consumers with more options in-store as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.”
